Still have questions?

Here's list of our most frequently asked questions bellow. If you still can't find what you're looking for, send us an email and we will get right back to you!

  • Do you need to have a mobile phone to use Key2Access?
The principal Key2Access function of wirelessly activating traffic may also be accomplished via use of a small remote. The remote may also be used to read out intersection names. The only advantage of using the mobile app is the ability to be prompted with location specific messaging such as construction alerts.
  • What other capabilities does the Key2Access app offer?
Key2Access’ vision is to make it easier for everyone to participate in their communities by using this platform as the Key to unlock more accessibility. The same mobile app allows users to open doors from the click of a button as well as to get more information about indoor spaces directly from their cell phone.
  • How does the "wireless traffic request" work?"
With Key2Access, you no longer have to go out of your way to access the button because everyone can have their own button in the palm of their hand. You can wirelessly request to cross using the Key2Access App or remote. For the App: When you approach an intersection, the street names will appear. You then simply select the street that you are seeking to cross. The phone will then vibrate and tell you "wait" (provided that your volume is on). When it is your turn to cross, if you are a visually impaired user, the app will have triggered any speakers, if there are any at the intersection. If you a physically impaired user, you will simply get the traditional visual traffic response with the walking man sign lit up. For those with a visual impairment, voice over may be used to understand which button on the screen corresponds to which direction. For the Remote: If you are using the Key2Access remote, there will be four buttons. Begin by pressing the bottom button and the intersection's speakers will read out the street names like "Main Street and King Street". The first street read out corresponds to the first button and the second street will correspond to the second button. Therefore, if you wanted to cross main street, you would press the first button, and you will receive audible confirmation from the intersection's speakers that the request has been received. Please note, this process is slightly different in the process of Quebec in order to comply with local laws. If you are from Quebec, please feel free to contact us for more information.
  • I want Key2Access in my City, what are my next steps?"
If you would like to see the Key2Access wireless technology in your city, talk to your local representatives. Once we are in contact, we will be able to explain any questions the city may have and discuss how to make Key2Access a reality in your city.
  • What mobile platforms is Key2Access available on? (e.g. iOS, Android, etc.)"
Key2Access is available on Google Play and Apple store at no cost.
  • Who is the Key2Access App for?
The main feature of the Key2Access system is the ability to request crossing wirelessly. This feature is particularly meaningful for the visually impaired, who currently have no convenient way of finding the pedestrian pole with the button, as it is always positioned differently. This feature was also designed to help ease the struggles of those using mobility assistive devices such as wheelchairs who often can't physically reach the pedestrian button because the pole is placed on a hill, in a bed of grass or, in winter months, surrounded by snow. However, throughout our development, we've seen that other interested users include people with strollers, the germ conscious, and even people on bicycles. Because the Key2Access app is free, anyone can choose to use it if they feel it complements their lifestyle.
